Viewer Comments About Lost Childhood

I saw your documentary on my local public television affiliate and thought it was a touching and well done investigation into what children of alcoholics go through. I am 29 now but have been dealing with my mother's alcholism since I was a teenager. Because I never sought the help that the kids you featured did, I lived in a world where I felt like I was the only one dealing with such a terrible problem. Even though I am now aware that is not the case I think part of me still felt that way until I saw your program.

Thank you for opening my eyes and thank you for making me aware of a program like Children's Place.
I wish everyone there the best of luck.

It was wonderful! I sure wish something like this was available when I was a child, isolated and alone in a violent alcoholic family. Fortunately, by age 42, I was having so much trouble in my life, that I discovered 12-step programs! They have helped me A LOT!!! I'm far from perfect or cured, but still benefiting from continuing to participate in meetings.

Thanks again for helping other innocent children not have to live through that nightmare in helpless isolation!

I am a "survivor" of family alchoholism. To this day, I deal with chronic fear, from an emotionally and physically unsafe household. Childhood is a scary time, a vulnerable time. We're an alchoholic, workaholic nation, where kids are too often an afterthought.

Thank you for making this documentary. It was awesome. As an elementary school counselor, I am always looking for ways to support the children I work with and share information with their parents and our school staff. Your documentary brings to life the concerns that 25% or more of our children face each and every day in a wonderfully gentle way. I plan to order the video.
